I wholeheartedly recommend the book paper towns. And then it's the easiest goddamned thing in the world. margo roth spiegelman is the girl that flew into q's heart and sent him into insanity trying to look for her. There’s next to no discussion of walt whitman, and i think that’s why there’s so little depth.
After having this book on my shelf for quite some time i finally got round to reading it and i'm so glad i did! One of the biggest challenges of adapting a novel to film is that most of the time, you lose that intrinsic connection to the characters.
