Gerald's Game Book Review
Any diehard king fan will tell you that the author’s biggest problem is endings. A tightly written book about sexual adventure led to misadventure, which could happen to anyone.

Listen To My Trumpet by Mo Willems a contender for
(note on the audio book edition) i listened to the unabridged reading by lindsay crouse and feel that this is the only way to truly immerse in the atmosphere that is gerald’s game.

Gerald's game book review. Gerald's game is a tight thriller with a strong psychological core. However, things quickly take a turn when gerald drops dead from a heart attack, leaving jessie handcuffed to the bed. Poor jessie, handcuffed to the bed while her husband lay dead on the floor.
In anticipation of mike flanagan’s movie adaptation i have decided to review one of my all time favorite king novels. Ahh, what do i even say about this book… i didn’t hate it but i was hardly a fan of it. This is a masterpiece that explored bdsm theme long before 50 shades did.
I think the only one scene can really shock, this is the scene where jessie hurts her hand. Stephen king does an amazing job here, primarily by making strong use of a couple key ingredients. Gerald’s game is written to keep you gripped.
But sometimes things can get out of hand and this time, jessie wasn’t playing along. The book has chills and thrills crafted out of very real situations, something that aids to. If you plan to read it, skip this review.
Gerald’s game is the first book in my stephen king journey that i’ve been pretty middle of the road about while reading it. And i kind of like that about it. Gerald's game by stephen king jessie and gerald burlingame head to their holiday home by the lake in maine for an afternoon of.
This book is a testament not. As jessie is cuffed to the bed she fights through many gruesome situations both real and in her head. Too scary for kids, ok for teenagers and adults.
Crouse’s manifestation of tone to convey different voices, jesse’s panic, jesse’s fright, and even the room around our prone heroine grabs readers and forces. Partly this was because the premise sounded disturbingly like misery, my least favourite king novel, and partly it was because i was suffering extreme genophobia (fear of sex), at the time and the very premise gerald’s game is built on was one that i simply couldn’t deal with then. Gerald's game by stephen king.
King takes it over the top, way over the top, in an exquisitely horrifying frightfest about a woman forced to face her deepest fears—and then some. The book vendor was delivering fresh copies of gerald’s game and was gracious enough to tear off the cover of one of them and hand it to me. It was fun in the beginning.
Stephen king took a huge chance with gerald's game. His ending for “gerald’s game” is atrocious, and you’d be better off turning this off about ten. Because this wasn’t their game;
Gerald's game is best if you know nothing about it. I couldn't recommend it more. Gerald's game is probably one of the most polarizing stephen king novels i've ever read.
'gerald's game' is able to please king's fans and, at the same time, to propose a film that is perfectly maintained as a meticulous thriller and a horror artifact. It wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t great. The movie can be scary sometimes, probably it would be better to advise your kid to read the book at first.
Sure, the concept is terrifying. I’m very impressed that king was able to write the majority of this almost 500 page book surrounding a situation that only lasted a few hours. The pacing is excellent for the duration of.
September 20, 2017 by indefenseofthehorror in reviews and tagged book, gerald's game, review, stephen king. He wrote it off as “damaged” and the rest is history, well , sort of. I'm going with 3 stars but i.
Gerald’s game was a book i consciously avoided as a teenager, even going as far as returning it back to the library unread. The reviews are all over the place, wh this was a hard one to rate. The end gets a little dark talking about joubert, but all in all, this is a.
This game was all his. Gerald's game is actually terrifying and the writing is perfect. Gerald’s game is set almost entirely within one room, peppered with flashbacks happening in jessie’s mind.
To me, gerald’s game is one of stephen’s best books. Trap a character alone in a single location and see how much of a story you can get out of it. By stephen king ‧ release date:
The handcuffs, the isolation, the vulnerability. To sum up my thoughts: It’s the dog character that knocked me out…give it to stephen any day.
This is the king who wrote the shining, misery, and cujo — the guy who. Gerald's game makes great use of the 'self contained' horror trope. So that’s how i came to own gerald’s game.
Jessie and gerald burlingame have. Fans of stephen king's book may be surprised by some of the changes to the story, but it all works as a movie. It is also the only king novel that i'm sure will never see film.
Most everything about this book is great; This isn’t a particularly long book, but to keep the audience engaged for over 300 pages of one setting is impressive. For years, it was almost a joke that king didn’t know how to wrap up even his best books.
